7 creative business ideas for children
Creativity is one of children's strengths, especially when we are talking about the little ones who learn from an early age healthy financial habits that give them advantages when they start thinking seriously about their professional future.
But for some of them, career and business ideas are the brightest since they are small and start doing various things to earn their own money. In the following lines, we present to you some "business" ideas suitable for children.
- I can babysit friends' or neighbors' pets
This can be a great idea if your little one doesn't give up on the idea of adopting a pet because they will realize that having a puppy or cat is a big responsibility.
If the neighbors are going out of town, they may need help refreshing the cat's water, filling the dog's bowls, or feeding the fish, simple enough tasks that young children can easily accomplish. If puppies need to be walked, always consider the size of the animal as well as the age of the child and make sure you know both the owner and the puppy well.
- Handmade gifts and cards
Creative kids can earn extra money by making homemade gifts (might need a little help from mom or dad). Little ones can create doll clothes, tea bags, cards or handmade soap. Creating and selling holiday and event cards is a quick and easy way to make money. Kids can write them by hand, draw or paint them with watercolors, or even create graphics using design software. There are many applications that have such free templates, such as Canva, with which the little ones can play and put their ideas into practice. Let them be creative.
- Future pastry chef
Everyone loves homemade treats like cookies and muffins. They are easy to make, transport and sell. Children can learn to shop for good quality ingredients at the best price and discover ways to speed up the production process. By selling sweets, the little ones earn pocket money and gain vital business skills.
- Rating toys and/or games on YouTube.
Videos of little ones explaining various popular games or showcasing toys or books are in high demand online these days. Also, they often have an educational role for other children. Not to be neglected are the little ones who practice different sports activities, maybe even more unusual ones. You can help your kids become famous on YouTube by creating an account and short videos of them and interact with the viewers through certain questions. Once they have a large number of followers, they can start earning as well.
- I can set up a recycling center
Together with playmates, the little one could set up a recycling service in the neighborhood/sector where you live. They can even start with an underutilized garage to collect paper or plastic bottles from people who don't have time to recycle their own waste. This may not necessarily generate large profits, at least at first, but parents (and neighbors) can reward children appropriately for their hard work. Plus, it will be good for the environment!
- Children's book author/illustrator
Children who like to write stories could make up their own book and then help their parents find a publisher for publication (or even edit it online). Depending on everyone's talent, little ones have several options to earn money for their favorite toys. For example, little Picassos can draw illustrations for story books for a fee.
- Planning vacations
It may seem strange at first, but many families struggle to plan vacations, and if a teenager can research and present different options, everyone in the family would save time. It would also help the little one learn about budgeting. Children are very patient and surfing the internet is one of their favorite activities. The best starting point can be a discussion with the child in which you present the details of what kind of holiday you want. They will just fill you in with information and present you with the most suitable destinations for your next unforgettable vacation.
There are many opportunities for children to start their own business. While they may not need a business right now, learning entrepreneurial skills from a young age gives them the opportunity to gain confidence, use their creativity and have an edge over their peers.
